Military retirees on Tuesday barricaded the entrance to the Military Pensions Board workplace in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, protesting the components adopted for adjusting their pensions.
The protesting veterans blocked entry to the premises with canopies and chairs, whereas armed troopers prevented them from getting into the workplace.
The protest comes weeks after army retirees staged an illustration on the Ministry of Defence in September, demanding a rise in their pensions following wage changes for serving army personnel.
The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, had reportedly assured the retirees that their pensions could be elevated in October.
However, the veterans have expressed dissatisfaction with the components adopted by the Military Pensions Board to calculate the changes, alleging that it has short-changed some retirees.
Their grievance centres on what they describe because the failure of the adjustment components to adequately replicate the wage will increase granted to serving army personnel.
The newest demonstration underscores the lingering considerations amongst retired army personnel over their welfare and pension entitlements, regardless of the sooner assurance by the Defence Minister.
The retirees are demanding a good adjustment of their pensions, insisting that the calculation technique ought to correctly account for the wage will increase that prompted their earlier protest.
