Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, has stated friction between incumbents and incoming governors is denying Nigerians good governance.
Ganduje stated this friction has made new governors to put aside programmes of their predecessors.
The former governor of Kano State spoke throughout the Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria Annual Conference in Abuja.
Ganduje stated: “Some of our nationwide leaders who have been nationalistic in outlook grew to become tribalistic in perspective as a result of political events have been based mostly on ethnicity.
“As time goes, we must always come collectively and imagine in Nigeria, convert our range into an asset slightly than a legal responsibility.
“When we’re speaking of sustainable improvement, what are the issues between an incumbent and predecessor in our politics at the moment? What is the issue between a governor who has exited and a brand new governor who has taken over?
“You discover out that there’s friction even when they belong to the identical political occasion, what extra if they do not belong to the identical political occasion.
“That query is denying us continued governance as a result of a governor has carried out loads of work, some completed, some ongoing, which is pure.
“When a brand new governor comes, something by the previous governor is put aside, any programme they might try and reverse it, so you can find that there isn’t any continuity.
“Continuity results in consolidation and this results in sustainable improvement. So I believe that this is a matter that we should take a look at.
“Are our establishments actually sturdy sufficient to maintain democracy? We want sustainable democracy in Nigeria, allow us to take a look at the manager, legislature, judiciary, non-governmental organizations. Are all these sturdy establishments that might transfer Nigeria ahead?”
